UECHS will Inspire our students to embrace diversity and cultivate relationships. UECHS will Empower our students to be problem solvers and critical thinkers through practice, perseverance, and effort. UECHS will Prepare our students to be productive, innovative, and successful members of a global and economically diverse society.
Core Beliefs:
- Every student is capable of college-level work, or college and career readiness
- Students need acceleration, not remediation, in a scaffolded and nurturing environment
- Students learn more when challenged and engaged by instruction and rigorous academic work.
What is ECHS?
Early College High Schools (ECHS) blend high school and college curricula simultaneously to give students the opportunity to earn up to two years of college credit (60 hours) while they finish high school. ECHS is an educational transformation model that was developed and implemented by Jobs for the Future and our National partners, with funding from the Gates Foundation, over the last 10 years. UECHS will bring college into High School to provide underserved youth with a path to and through post-secondary education.
